Local Community of Artists
Houston is not a well-known area for scripted, narrative filmmaking, despite it being the fourth largest city in the USA! It's not always feasible for someone to move to an area where film congregates, and with more and more content going online, as well as changes in technology like editing programs, that has allowed more of the industry to become decentralized, making our dream even more of a reality.
In our pursuit to become fully self-sustaining and independent, we have teamed up with like minded organizations and individuals, who have brought not only there appreciable skills to bear on the same goal as us, but align with our ethics of fair treatment for all artists, at all levels. Here are some of those organizations, with more to be added:
Haven Arts Theatre
A 501©3 community theatre operating out of North Houston, Haven Arts is dedicated to producing high quality theatre with local performing artists. Founded by Amy K Barnes and Jared Alan Barnes, both alumni of SHSU's musical theatre department; they have several decades of professional theatre experience between the two of them and have dedicated this experience to not only bringing theatre to the community, but a positive, supportive community of artists.
Haven Arts is actively producing shows, so please visit their website to learn about their latest production!
